Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Kotabaru Health Agency instructed 28 community health centers (puskesmas) in the district to increase the Early response alertness system (SKDR) to avert the possibility of a coronavirus outbreak.
Acting Head of the agency Hj Ernawati here on Sunday (March 9, 2020) remarked that the policy is to follow up the circular from the South Kalimantan Health Agency regarding prevention, vigilance, and preparedness for COVID-19.
"Another strategic step is to improve coordination with the District Epidemiology Team (TEK), Puskesmas Epidemiology (TEPUS), and the Pangeran Jaya Sumitra District Hospital (RSUD) of Kotabaru," she said.
The agency also coordinates with the agencies at the forefront of entry points, such as the Banjarmasin Port Health Office, Immigration, Port Authority, the Disaster Mitigation Agency, Transportation Agency, SAR in Kotabaru, and Maritime and Fisheries Agency.

Ernawati acknowledged, as a district with the longest coastline in South Kalimantan, Kotabaru has the potential to be vulnerable as a transit area, a place where foreign ships stopover for loading and unloading, and other needs.
"On the basis of the geographical conditions, we continue to increase vigilance if at any time there are cases of people who are exposed to the coronavirus," she said.
Moreover, Ernawati continued, in had a scene some time ago in Kotabaru when some ships crew referred to the district hospital for suspected of being exposed to the virus. Alhamdulillah, the results were negative.
