Head of the Banjarbaru Class 1 Climatology Station Goeroeh Gjiptanto announced a prediction of very high rainfall in December in South Kalimantan.
He specifically asked the sub-district areas in the south part of Barito Kuala (Batola) to be on alert as it has the very potential of flood.
He said a quite high potential of rainfall in Batola and its upstream area has the potential to cause flood disasters. Although it has no mountain, the flood may happen from river overflow or rob sent from upstream.
"In early December the rainfall possibly reaches 60 percent, but then it increases between 70 to 90 percent in mid-December," he warned as he spoke in the Finalization Meeting on the Formulation of a Contingency Planning Document for Facing a Flood Disaster, Friday (Nov 22, 2019).

The meeting in the Batola Regent office was attended by South Kalimantan Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), the 1005 Marabahan Military Command, Batola Police, PDAM, PLN, Orari, and related agencies
“This meeting is of the concern and anticipation of local government in dealng with flood,” Batola Regent said through District's Administration Assistant Muhammad Anthony.

The regent admitted the flood risk prone to occur seeing the quite high of rainfall, especially at the area close to riverside.
She asked all parties and related offices to work better and fast in case if a disaster occurs would be handled quickly and optimally.
