Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Syamsudin Noor Airport Meteorology Station of the BMKG recorded 10 hotspots from the observation of Terra, Aqua and Suomi NPP Satellite occurred in South Kalimantan, Sunday (7/14).
The highest hotspots in South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Regency with six hotspots spread in Daha Barat Sub-district, Daha Utara Sub-district, and Padang Batung Sub-district.
Then each one hotspot in South Paringin, Balangan Regency, in Paramasan, Banjar Regency, Tanjung City in Tabalong District, and South Tapin in Tapin Regency.
"The detected hotspot trust level is between 53 percent and 77 percent," said forecaster of the Class II Syamsudin Noor Meteorology Station Rimelda Yuni Hasteti in Banjarbaru, Sunday (7/14).
The level of trust indicates that hotspots monitored from remote sensing satellite data are actual fire events in the field. The higher the confidence interval, the higher the potential that the hotspot is actually forest and land fires.

Meanwhile the South Kalimantan Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) HeadWahyuddin said his party have set up a task force field posts handling the smog disaster in a number of locations.
Also installed billboards with an explanation of maps of disaster-prone areas, such as in the peatland area at Guntung Damar, which is adjacent to Syamsudin Noor Airport in Banjarbaru.
Empty land in the Syamsudin Noor Urban Village, Landasan Ulin Subdistrict, often burns in the dry season. In fact, in September 2015, President Joko Widodo reviewed this location when land conditions were severely burned.
South Kalimantan BPBD has mapped five districts are prone to land fires because they have vacant land in the form of extensive peat to clear land for agriculture and plantations.
The five regions are Banjarbaru, Barito Kuala, Banjar, Tapin and Tanah Laut Regency. So Wahyuddin reminded farmers and plantation companies not to burn when opening land for planting.
