Rantau, South Kalimantan, 12/1 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Dam projects in Pipitak Jaya, Sub-district of Piani, Tapin, will be able to irrigate up to 600 hectares of rice fields.


Regent Tapin HM Arpan Arifin in Rantau on Thursday said when materialized the dam will not only increase crop production in South Kalimantan, but also improve the welfare of farmers.

Farmers harvests, he added, will increase from the previous one to two or even three times in one year.

"In addition, farmers whose land is irrigated from the dam can also plant a variety of other agricultural products, such as onion, soy, chilli and others," he said.

According to Regent, now the dam project has reached 40 percent.

Earlier, the first stone is planned to be done by President Joko Widodo.

"But that desire can not be fulfilled," he said.

Boost the completion of the project, it has now been included in National Strategic Programme (PSN) of the central government. The PUPR Minister plans to come to Tapin to represent the president.
