The Governor of South Kalimantan H Sahbirin Noor or popularly known as Uncle Birin received an honorary title as Father of Village Development.
The Indonesian Village Officials Association (PPDI) for South Kalimantan, the Indonesian Village Consultative Members Association (PABPDSI) of South Kalimantan and the Indonesian Village Governments Association (Apdesi) for South Kalimantan bestowed the honor on the Governor at the Mahligai Pancasila Building in Banjarmasin, Tuesday (July 30, 2024).
Uncle Birin was holding silaturahmi (a friendly meeting) with village governments in South Kalimantan to seek the regional head elections (pilkada) run safely, peacefully, and happily when he received the honorary title.
The Governor admitted that he was very honored by the award given to him and it was a motivation to continue to build advanced villages in the province.

This honor, he said, cannot be separated from the performance of all village officials, including the South Kalimantan Community and Village Empowerment Agency (PMD) in building the villages.
South Kalimantan Province has 1,871 villages in 154 sub-districts spread across 11 districts.
Of that number. during the leadership of Governor H Sahbirin Noor until the end of his two period, 844 villages became developed villages, 808 villages in the phase of independent villages, and 219 villages with a status of developing villages.
"We have proven that there is no more underdeveloped villages in South Kalimantan and this was achieved two years faster that the Provincial Medium Term Development Plan's (RPJMD's) target," he said.
All this success, he said, was thanks to the synergy, collaboration and cooperation of all, so that this achievement was very encouraging in improving the welfare of village communities.
