Governor H Sahbirin Noor or familiarly called Uncle Birin invited all parties to maintain the position of South Kalimantan as one of the provinces supporting national rice production.
He hoped the gogo (rain-dependent rice crops) rice harvest in Lumpangi, Loksado Subdistrict, South Hulu Sungai (HSS) he attended on Thursday (28/3) became the momentum of the importance of spurring enthusiasm in increasing rice production.
"I invite you to continue to struggle. Don't hesitate to continue working in the agricultural sector, because the South Kalimantan Government and the districts and cities will make maximum efforts to support farmers to develop their agricultural businesses," he said.
He explained, the seriousness of the government is also expected to get support from the farming community which directly spearheads the development of agriculture and food security.
The development of agriculture in South Kalimantan continues to run well in line with the development in the field of food security and continues to be strengthened. In 2017 the rice harvest area is around 569 thousand hectares, then in 2018 the harvested area becomes more than 577 thousand hectares.
Rice production reaches 2.4 million tons, and even now South Kalimantan still ranks 10th as a national rice buffer province.
