The South Kalimantan Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Agency inspected 5,000 swiftlet eggs which were to be sent to Semarang, Central Java, through the Syamsudin Noor Banjarbaru Airport exit point.
“Even though they are small in size, swiftlet egg is a commodity that is obliged to be reported to quarantine,” said head of the agency Sudirman in Banjarmasin, Friday.
He said the shipment of thousands of eggs was for cultivation purpose and would be hatched in Semarang.

“Officers conduct physical checks and documents related to requirements so that the commodities can be accepted by th destination area,” he said.
After being declared healthy and fit, an Animal Product Sanitation Certificate (KH-12) was issued as the main requirement, so that it could be transported to the destination area.
Sudirman said that in addition from the eggs that have economic value, swalows also produce nest that are popular and widely used for healthy needs both at home and abroad.
“Quarantine officers guarantee that these commodities are free from disease and fit to be flown to Semarang City,” he said.
