South Kalimantan has exported three of the region's leading fishery commodities to Thailand and China.
“They are eels, blood cockles, and mangrove crabs,” said Head of the South Kalimantan Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Agency Sudirman in Banjarmasin, Monday.
The number of commodities exported were 37,200 fresh eels, 728 kilograms of fresh shellfish, and 2,300 live mangrove crabs.

“Quarantine officers have carried out a series of checks to assure these commodities are accepted in Thailand and China,” he said.
The checks were including completeness of documents, confirmity of documents with physical condition regarding type and quantity of commodities.
The agency also carried out clinical examinations to ensure that all commodities were safe and suitable for consumption in the destination countries.
After all the inspection stages were carried out, he said, the results of physical examination could be concluded that no quarantine fish pests (HPIK) were found.
The results of the examination were reported with the Surveillance Results Report on Good Fish Quarantine Methods (CKIB) and sample test results in the quarantine laboratory. The next was Health Certificate for Fish dan Fishery Product (KI-D1) issued.
“Every commodity both to be exported or sent domestically must undergo quarantine measures to ensure the safety and quality of the commodity,” said Sudirman.
