The Banjarmasin Agricultural Quarantine Agency inspected 160 kilograms of swallow's nest (SBW) from Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, that will be sent by an expedition service to Surabaya, East Java.

"The examination includes organoleptic and suitability of the amount of the commodity to be sent," said Head of Banjarmasin Agricultural Quarantine Agency Nur Hartanto here, Monday.

The agency's officers also inspected the properness of packaging to ensure that the swallow's nest remained safe until it reaches its destination. 

"SBW to be transported was still not clean, there was still fur that it need further processing so that it safe and ready for consumption," said Hartanto.

Hartanto said the results of the SBW examination and its packaging were declared good and proper.

So did the documents were complete, thus the agency issued the certificate of animal product sanitation (KH-12). 

The quarantine seal attached to the commodity indicated that it has been inspected.

He admitted that Kotabaru has potential in cultivation of swallow's nest, because of its natural condition which is still preserved. 

SBW contains many benefits, no wonder this commodity has high economic value and is good for business opportunity. 

"Agricultural Quarantine Agency is ready to provide certification services as a guarantee that agricultural commodities are healthy, safe and fit for traffic," he said.
