The Indonesian Navy in Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, held a social service at the coastal area of Kampung Bahari (Marine Village) of the Village of Sarangtiung and Gedambaan.

“This social service is one of the series of commemoration of Fleet Anniversary in 2022, which is an appreciation of the long history of the Indonesian Navy's service to the State and Nation,” said Commander of Kotabaru Naval Base Lt. Col. Marine (P) Edy Setyawan in Kotabaru, Wednesday.

According to him, dedication to the nation and state can be realized by playing an active role in the society by prioritizing social programs that bring benefits.

"The location of social service this time is two coastal villages, which are our fostered area. In the future (the number of) villages will be developed," he said.

The two villages are Sarang Tiung and Gedambaan, which are Kampung Bahari Nusantara as a pilot of Navy program.

"Smart House Program with facilities of library and computers equipped with WiFi could be used as means of education for residents of Sarang Tiung and the surroundings," Edy Setyawan expounded.

He hopes this program and the facilities will encourage coastal children to be more active in learning.

Chairman of the Kotabaru Legislative Council (DPRD) Syairi Mukhlis expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the Navy's social service.

“Thank God and thank you for the implementation of this noble activity. Our sincere appreciation goes to the Kotabaru Naval Base,” said Syairi Mukhlis.

He said the social service was a real form of the unity of the TNI (Indonesian Armed Forces) with the people.
