Tapin Housing, Settlement, and Land Office (Perkimtan) through a labor-intensive program have succeeded in putting in order illegal settlements and buildings on the river basin areas (DAS).
The labor-intensive program has a major impact on the river environment and at the same time absorbed 979 local workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Head of the agency Yumanto in Rantau on Friday the curbing covered hundreds of houses in the villages of Pandahan, Pematang Karangan Hilir, and Hiyung in Tapin Tengah Sub-district.
“Alhamdulillah (Thank God) the target is complete. The 2021 labor-intensive program absorbed 979 workers. We have completed the relocation of 163 houses from 2020 to 2021. Besides houses, there are 199 buildings,” he said.
The program, which funds are sourced from refocusing, still in the framework of economic recovery for the 2021 fiscal year, absorbed funds of IDR3,376,102,000.
Tapin Regent HM Arifin Arpan advised the local residents to maintain and care for the river so that the environment's cleanliness is maintained.
“Today we are closing the labor-intensive program, thank God it has been completed in three locations from previously planned for six villages. Furthermore, we will monitor it, so there is no omission after it is finished,” he said.
The river on the side of a six kilometers road in the center of the development of the well-known hiyung bird's eye chili was once said by the Regent as a potential tourist attraction.
“When it has been arranged, its maintenance and management is handed back to the community and the results are also for the community," he said.
