Speaker of the Kotabaru Legislative Council (DPRD) Syairi Mukhlis was the first person the get the COVID jab as Kotabaru began a simultaneous vaccination on Tuesday.
Syairi Mukhlis was one of 10 public officials who became role models in the implementation of the free vaccine program launched by the government.
The PDIP politician said that before getting the jab, he had to have a health check to make sure if he could be vaccinated or not.
"Previously I was informed by health officers that the vaccination effect caused mild symptoms of dizziness such as shaking and stiff, but after being injected Alhamdulillah I did not feel any symptoms," said Syairi.

This condition, he continued, made him more confident and believed that COVID-19 vaccination was indeed safe and halal as MUI had issued the fatwa.
Thus, he appealed to the public not to be afraid to receive COVID jab as a measure to prevent contracting the coronavirus and in order the pandemic could be ended.
"Even though vaccination has been carried out, all of us should apply health protocol by frequently washing hands, wearing masks, and maintaining distance or avoiding crowds," he said.
