The Provincial Government of South Kalimantan keeps striving to recover the local economy affected by the outbreak of coronavirus or COVID-19.

Acting Governor H Rudy Resnawan stated this in his response to the general views of factions on the 2021 draft regional budget (RAPBD) in a plenary meeting chaired by Deputy Speaker Muhammad Saripuddin, SE accompanied by Speaker DR (HC) H Supian HK SH MH in Banjarmasin, Monday.

In the answer, read by Acting Regional Secretary Roy Rizali Anwar, he affirmed that the reduction in the regional revenue due to the pandemic did not prevent the government from continuing to strive in professional, efficient, effective, and accountable ways in the use of the budget that was directed at the priority of public service.

Likewise the slowdown in economic growth, both nationally and regionally, he stated that the pandemic did not become an excuse to reduce performance.

"Therefore, as we hope, the preparation of the 2021 RAPBD is guided by the Home Affairs Ministry Regulation (Permendagri) No 64/2020," he said.

"As with the arrangement of spending patterns, it is proportional, effective, and efficient by prioritizing the obligatory funding of the government, such as basic services," he added.

For example, poverty, unemployment, and layoffs are strategic issues that need to be resolved through the development of small, medium, and micro industries (MSMEs).

"Furthermore encouraging downstream investment in industry, tourism, and agriculture, as well as strengthening health, education, and skills," said Rudy Resnawan.

The South Kalimantan draft regional budget for 2021 targets revenues of IDR5.412 trillion, the expenditure of IDR5.462 trillion, while the difference of IDR500 billion will be covered by regional net financing.
