Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The South Kalimantan Customs and Excise Office (Bea Cukai) exterminated millions of illegal cigarettes and some other illegal stuff caught in 2013 with total state losses more than Rp1 billion.
Head of Regional South Kalimantan Bea Cukai Mudji Raharjo after extermination here on Tuesday said it is done as an effort to continue to combat illegal stuff that goes to the province.
"We will continue to conduct raids in accordance with the provisions established, in addition to reducing the evaporation loss of state taxes, also to provide protection to the consumer from unsafe goods," he said.
Some of the items destroyed are 3.82432 million cigarettes, three sex aids and a carton magazine airsoft gun .
Culling implemented in garbage landfills (TPA) Basirih witnessed by the officials and other stakeholders.
According to Mudji, the extermination done because the employer has violated article 29 paragraph (1) of Law No 39 of 2007, concerning amendments to the Law No. 11 of 1995 on excise.
Under these provisions, cigarettes may only be offered or sold, delivered or otherwise made available for sale, after a packed and glued to the required tax stamp./e
