The temporary Speaker of Kotabaru Legislative Council (DPRD) Syairi Mukhlis agreed the discourse of partition (pemekaran) in its mainland part, Kelumpang and Pamukan, to be named Kambatang Lima District.
"In our opinion, considering the limited budget, we agree the discourse of partition of Kambatang Lima as to accelerate regional development," Syairi remarked, Tuesday (10/9).
Kotabaru, according to him, is the widest district in South Kalimantan Province. It consist of 21 sub-district which cover 205 villages and urban villages. For the development it relatively required a large budget, while its financial cability reflect from the very limited budget.
This is the reason, why the equitable development in the district, which covers one-third of the province, has not been maximized. So it is very reasonable for the regions if they have desire to expand (pemekaran) by forming a new government.
Syairi saw this as a consequence of the growth of population that should be in balance with the growth of development.

Asked about the partition will cause reduction of the area of Kotabaru if it realized, the PDIP politician dismissed the assumption.
"You have to know that Kotabaru has a very large area. If the partition will cause the development of the region to accelerate, then we should support it," he argued.

However, he added, we should noted the norms, special studies, and commitment in the policy, that the parent district would not be disturbed or obstructed, but on the contrary both will synergize.
