The South Kalimantan Office of the Religious Affairs Ministry (Kanwil Kemenag) declared as many as 968 prospective haj pilgrims departing through Banjarmasin Embarkation were already in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
Head of the regional office H Noor Fahmi said on Saturday the pilgrims who were divided into three flight groups (keloter) have been in Madinah from the beginning of departure on July 9, 2019.
According to him, there were seven officers who accompanied each flight group, namely three from the Local Hajj Guiding Team (TPHD), one group leader or the Indonesian Hajj Guiding Team (TPHI), one from the Indonesian Hajj Advisory Team (TPIHI), one doctor, and two paramedics.
Hajj candidates now in the city of Medina, said Noor Fahmi, are 321 people of the first flight group from South Hulu Sungai (HSS) and Banjarmasin City, the second flight group of 325 people from Tabalong District and the third flight group of 325 people from Banjar District.
"The third group is just arrived in Medina today," he said.

According to him, the conditions of the South Kalimantan pilgrims who were already in Madinah were reportedly not having experienced major problems, especially health.
"So all of those who are there have been relatively healthy until now, hopefully this will continue until the end of the Hajj pilgrimage and return to the country safely and get the hajj mabrur," he said.
In the process of the pilgrimage departure for up to three groups, Noor Fahmi said, there were three candidates being postponed and one canceled.
"Three people due to illness, one died. Three of them who were ill have to be treated intensively in hospital and attempted to leave with the next group involved," he said.
