"The plan is the eighth bridge across the river Martapura River to connects Sungai Jingah with Sungai Bilu," said Head of Banjarmasin Highways Agency Gusti Riduan Sofyani, Wednesday.
He said the bridge construction plans is to break up congestion of the city of Banjarmasin which covers an area of ​​98 square kilometers.
Detail Engineering Design (DED) was made, he continued, the next is land acquisition and funding for the development of facilities that had been long awaited by the community.
The bridge is curved, so that the ship or boat across the Martapura River in the area are not hampered by the presence of the bridge, said Riduan.
The length of the bridge is about 200 meters. It is built with reinforced concrete construction.
Banjarmasin currently has seven bridges cross the Martapura River, namely Antasari Bridge, Dewi Bridge (formerly A Yani Bridge), then the Pasar Lama Bridge (formerly called 10 November Bridge).
Then there is also the Merdeka Bridge, Banua Anyar or Hidayatullah Bridge, RK Ilir Bridge or 24 September Bridges, and the Basirih Bridge.
"We hope that the bridges are long-lived, so they can be utilized optimally for easy transport of residents of a city of about 800 thousand inhabitants," said Gusti Riduan.
