Martapura, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) Branch of Banjar District supports the policy of the District Head Khalilurrahman in abolishing floating latrines along the banks of the Martapura River.
PPNI support was carried out through the dismantling of floating latrines in Bincau Muara Village in collaboration with the UPT (technical unit) Community Health Center (Puskesmas) Martapura 1 and replacing it with a tripicon S system.
"We appreciate the PPNI's support for the elimination of floating latrines. It proves the nurse organization cares about the environment and public health," the regent said in Martapura on Tuesday.
The regent spoke while attending the commemoration of the 45th anniversary of PPNI in the Banjar District centered in the Bincau Muara Village, Martapura Subdistrict.
The policy to abolish floating latrines carried out since 2016 as his vision and mission when nominating as regional head in pairs with Deputy Regent Saidi Masyur.
"We are targeting for five years of leadership until 2020 to eliminate a thousand floating latrines and be optimistic that the target can be achieved through a prepared program," he said.
