Banjarmasin, (Antaranews) - A member of South Kalimantan DPRD's Commission II overseeing Economy and Finance, which is also in charge of plantations, said CPO company in Barito Kuala (Batola) will be summoned regarding complaints from local oil palm farmers.

Oil palm farmers in Batola District, South Kalimantan, complained that the low price of their plantations is not balanced with production costs, making it difficult to get maximum profits.

While the crude palm oil (CPO) processing plant in Batola seems reluctant or has not wholeheartedly accommodated people's oil palm.

"They made the complaint when I recess last week," Karlie Hanafi said in Banjarmasin on Friday.

"Even they informed that CPO factory in Batola tends to bring in raw materials from other regions, such as from Tanah Laut (Tala)," said the Chairperson of the South Kalimantan DPRD Golkar Party Faction quoted the farmers.

Regarding the complaints of the farmers, the former ULM student activist said he would follow up through Commission II. "Through Commission II, Insya Allah we will invite oil palm company that have CPO factories in Batola to be questioned," he said

"Thankfully the meeting with the factory will have the best solution to overcome the complaints of Batola oil palm farmers in particular," said Karlie Hanafi who in a five-day recess (November 7 - 11) in Batola met his constituents at five points, including Mandastana and Wanaraya Subdistricts.
