Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews) - At least 2,500 participants participated in enlivening the fun bike titled Gowes Pesona Wiratama held by the 623rd Bhakti Wira Utama (BWU) Infantry Battalion.
"Thank God for the enthusiasm of the participants was so overwhelming and we are grateful for their participation," said Commander of the 623th Infantry Battalion (Danyonif) Lieutenant Colonel Inf Roy Fahrul Rozi in Banjarbaru, Sunday.
The sports event which was held in the framework of the 73rd Anniversary of the TNI received an overwhelming response from various circles. Not only the community of cycling lovers, but a number of high-ranking officials have also participated.
Even South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor was asked to see-off participants on the start line in front of the 623 BWU headquarters. The governor accompanied by Provincial Military Commander (Danrem) 101Antasari Col. Arm Syaiful Rahman, South Kalimantan Police Chief Irjen Yazid Fanani, Banjarmasin Naval Base Commander Marine Col. (P) Wijayanto and 1006 Martapura Military Commander Lt. Col. Muchammad Ghoffar Ngismangil.
The governor appreciated the fun bike implementation which is now in demand by the people of South Kalimantan. According to him, every cycling event is always followed by many participants.
"This proves that our society has a lot of interest in cycling and is certainly a positive thing to lead a healthy life," said the governor who was familiarly called Uncle Birin.
The 25-kilometer route in the Mandiangin and Gunung Kulang areas prepared by the committee is truly challenging while presenting the beautiful natural scenery for participants.
At the end of the event, the lucky participants brought home the prizes that were drawn, including the grand prizes of the motorcycle, mountain bikes and two umrah prizes.
