Kandangan, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Hulu Sungai administration is now trying to push the potential of traditional tourism, one of which by holding jukung sudur or traditional rowboat race in Paharangan Village, North Daha.
In fact, said the Village Secretary Muhammad Irwan in Paharang on Sunday, the old attraction that the local government is trying to revive got a large attendance.
16 teams of adult class participants and 5 teams of children participants attended in this contest. Competition between squads was quite tight, making the race more interesting.
"All the participants looked very excited and enthusiastic to win, so we decided to keep giving the entertainment prize for the losing team," he said.
The competition, besides as an effort to cultivate village tourism, also to produce seeds of rowing athletes who will compete in the Pacu Jukung Daha 2018 or the same race to be held in the scale of the district next year.
The Provincial Government of South Kalimantan establishes the year 2020 as the Year of Visits after the entire region is ready to fix the potential of each flagship tourism destination respectively.
Head of South Kalimantan Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Nurul Fajar Desira said the board immediately coordinate with all districts and cities to encourage the re-emergence of regional tourism mainstay.
"We want all the mainstay of tourist areas to be addressed and re-emerged," he said.
