Rantau, South Kalimantan 7/9 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Government of Tapin, South Kalimantan, will develop climate village to anticipate the change of climate and environment.


Tapin Regent HM Arifin Arpan on Thursday said the development of the climate village is a proof of the seriousness of the district government to improve environmental conditions in the region.

Regent, who leads a working visit together with the Environment Agency to the Sanitation and Green Open Space Agency in Surabaya, said the visit is aimed to recognize the climate village program has been launched in Surabaya.

According to the Regent, the climate village program is suitable in Tapin and expected, efforts and experience of Surabaya City Government in realizing the program can actually be implemented in Tapin.

"Do not just making a visit but no souvenirs or benefits for the development of the region. I mean this working visit can be really useful for the region," he said.

In the visit, Regent also brought the Head of Health Agency Errny Martin, Head of Housing, Land and Settlement Mujiono, Head of Fishery Agency Bastian, Head of Industry Agency Abdul Hadi, and Secretary of Development Planning Board, R&D Wahyudi Pranoto.

Head of the Surabaya Sanitation and Green Open Space Agency Chalid Bukhari explained that the climate village is a step to strengthen the real action at the local level to contribute to increasing the capacity of all parties in facing the impact of climate change.

The program, he added, will help communities manage sustainable environments from waste management, greening, and increasing citizens' awareness of environmental hygiene.

"Almost all housing complexes and areas in the city of Surabaya have followed this climate village program and our agency continues to provide mentoring and coaching," he said.

According to him, to increase the community's passion for this program, the agency give rewards every year. "Every year we hold a climate village competition and the winners get rewards," he said.
