Batulicin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Tanah Bumbu District Government and its Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team (TP PKK) carried out the ASRI Village program in Madu Retno Village, Karang Bintang Sub-district.
"Our action is greening the village environment," said Chairwoman of Tanah Bumbu TP PKK Wahyu Windarti in Batulicin, Tuesday.
ASRI, which stands for Safe, Healthy, Lush, Beautiful, is a program that the community is expected to be more concerned about climate change, creating a beautiful village that is clean, green and protected from environmental pollution.

In Tanah Bumbu, the district and village government collaborate to create green environment by planting tabebuia, a genus of flowering plants, along the roadsides leading to villages.
Wahyu Windarti assessed this program provides benefits for the people of Madu Retno Village and Tanah Bumbu District in general.
"We continue to fully support efforts to plant tabebuia flowers. It is able to beautify the view, and is expected to have a positive impact on the environment," she said.
Head of Madu Retno Village Mustari said that the tabebuias planted along the village roads were the result of nursery conducted by local residents.
“Currently, we have seeded about 100 tabebuia trees, and 15 trees have been planted along the roadside," said Mustari.
Not only on village main roads, tabebuia flowers were also planted in the village environment.
Tabebuias are known for their beautiful and brightly colored flowers, sutiable for planting on roadside, because they are resistant to hot weather and can grow well in various type of soil.
“We hope people who pass this road will feel more comfortable and inspired by greener and beautiful view,” he said.
