Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - PT Adaro Indonesia through Amanah Bangun Negeri Foundation (YABN) has provided 1,000 laying hens, coops and technical management training to Riyadhul Muhibbin Islamic Boarding School or pesantren in Bungin Village, Balangan District, South Kalimantan.
YABN's Economic Supervisor, Candra Fajar Putra, said the assistance was part of ongoing effort to foster economic independence of pesantren.
"This program is designed to help pesantren to have sustainable source of income," he expounded in Paringin, Tuesday.

Adaro also provided training and mentoring to enable pesantren managers and santri (students) to develop their egg-laying chicken farming business professionally.
This is the Program Adaro Pesantren Sejahtera (PAPS) aims to encourage economic independence of pesantren through development of productive business unit.
He said not only capital assistance, but this program includes coaching on business management, financial keeping, and marketing strategy for egg production.
"We hope pesantren to be independent and contribute to the economy of the surrounding community," he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Business Management Agency (BPUP) of the Riyadhul Muhibbin Islamic Boarding School, Ustadz Muhammad Rasyid, expressed his appreciation for the support provided by Adaro and YABN.
“We once had a similar business, but it did not ran optimally. Now, with 1,000 laying hens, new coops, and training from YABN, we are optimistic to do it better,” he assured.
He said the egg production will not only to meet the need of pesantren, but will also be sold to the surrounding people as a source of income for the institution.
Through the Adaro Pesantren Sejahtera Program, Adaro and YABN conitinue striving to strengthen the role of pesantren to be independent and economically empowered, while promoting the welfare of communities around the operational areas of the company.
