Batulicin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Pesona Rejo Jaya Village-Owned Enerprise (BUMDes) in Tegalrejo Village, Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, placed 11th in the national level based on the results of the first stage of waste management innovation competition held by the Directorate General of Village and Rural Development
"Eleven villages from eleven provinces have entered the next stage of assessment to win a top six ranking. Alhamdulillah Pesona Rejo Raya BUMDes represents South Kalimantan," said Triwidodo, director of the BUMDes in Batulicin, Tuesday.
A number of ministries involved in the assessment of waste management competition, including Public Works Ministry, National Development Planning Ministry, Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Ministry, Environment Ministry, and Home Affairs Ministry.
One of the advantages of the BUMDes in garbage management is strengthening waste sorting management, separating different types of waste to facilitate further arrangement and processing.
Organic waste is processed into a compost product called kombat. The fertilizer then packaed and sold to farmers for Rp10 thousand per 15 kg sack.
Widodo said the compost contains nutrient and organic carbon that are good for plants. The majority of farmers have switched to using compost produced by Tegalrejo BUMDEs.
Meanwhile, non-recycle plastic waste is packed and sent to PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa (ITP) Tbk Tarjun as an additional fuel to replace coal. Plastic waste sent reaches over five tons per month.
All waste managed by the BUMDes has economic value, and PT ITP can even purchase up to 30 tons of plactic waste per month.
This means that all waste produced by Tegalrejo Village household can be properly managed by the BUMDes. It also decompose the waste at the temporary disposal (TPS).
The BUMDes is also trying to develop a pyrolysis system for plastic waste processing into diesel engine fuel.
"We have done two trial using the pyrolisus system for processing plasctic waste. The result will be tested in the laboratory to standardize engine fuel," he concluded.
