Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, H Muhammad Rusli met with Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in Jakarta to discuss the Mekar Putih Special Economic Zone (SEZ or KEK), strategic development, vision and mission, and sport issues.
"The meeting discussed strategic plan and synergy between the central and regional government, one of which is to presenting representative stadium for the people of Kotabaru," he said here on Wednesday.
Not only as a symbol of prestige, he expounded, the stadium is a means of developing sports.
“This is part of big dream of the people of Kotabaru. We want to provide adequate space and facilities for local children to develop and excel,” he pointed out.

VP Gibran welcomed the initiative and committed to give support according to his authority as part of the central government in the future.
This step shows the real commitment of the regional government in providing quality infrastructure for the progress of Kotabaru.
Previously, Head of South Kalimantan Transportation Office Fitri Hernadi said that the South Kalimantan Provincial Government is now focusing on developing Mekar Putih Port in Kotabaru District to become special economic zones.
“The development of Mekar Putih Port area in Kotabaru with various facilities and infrastructure is a strategic step to improve logistics connectivity in supporting the new capital city of Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan,” he said in Banjarmasin on Wednesday (January 15, 2025).
He said with the existing potential and very strategic location, Mekar Putih Harbor in Kotabaru has a great potential as a center for international trade activities.
