Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Provincian Government said that Japanese investors are interested in investing in managing and developing milkfish, as well as hazardous and toxic waste (B3) in the province.
"We welcome the promotional activities in Osaka, Japan, and investors interest in milkfish and B3 waste in South Kalimantan," said acting Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan Syarifuddin when confirmed here on Wednesday.
Japan investment in South Kalimantan, he said, is in line with Asta Cita rolled out by President Prabowo Subianto to achieve national economic growth of 8 percent and to realize food security.
The Head of Regional Investor Relations Unit Investment, Trade, and Tourism Relations Unit of South Kalimantan (RIRU Intan) said, South Kalimantan promotion in Osaka is to encourage investment in green energy, sustainable agroindustry, and food downstreaming.
Then, digital technology development by introducing 10 sustainable projects as the main attraction for foregin or global investors.

"This is also a business forum attended by a number of major Japanese investors offline at Indonesia Pavilion at the World Expo Osaka 2025," said Syarifuddin.
At this event then Japanese investor signed Letter of Intent (LOI) on a milkfish cultivation project which is integrated with canning industry and hospital B3 waste processing project in South Kalimantan.
Head of Bank Indonesia South Kalimantan Office Fadjar Majardi said that the Japanese investors' interest in the two investment projects in South Kalimantan was a good initial step.
"RIRU Intan is ready to facilitate and oversee the realization of the LOI," he said.
Next, he continued, RIRU Intan will stengthen investment promotion efforts, especially investors from Japan, China, ASEAN, UK, and United States, to support efforts to realize a high-growth, inclusive, and sutainable South Kalimantan economy.

Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti opened the forum which was attended by Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Heri Akhmadi and Expert Staff for Macroeconomics of the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming or the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Imam Soejoedi.
