Tanjung, South Kalimantan 26/12 (AntaranewsKalsel) - PT Pertamina Exploration and Production Tanjung Field Manager Irwan Zuhri said gas potential in Tanjung Field, Tabalong, is small and only used for company operations.
"Oil and gas wells scattered in Tanjung Field are currently only limited exploitation of petroleum, while the gas produced limited for Pertamina operational purposes," said Irwan here, Monday.
Irwan said this in media gathering of PT Pertamina EP Asset V Tanjung Field with journalists in Tabalong at Aston Tanjung Hotel.
Although the gas generated from oil and gas wells belonging to Pertamina is small, Irwan said, the company seek that Tabalong iconic torch monument in Mabuun still burning.
Petroleum Engineering Assistant Manager of PT Pertamina Asset V Muslim Nugraha added that the gas produced is a byproduct of oil exploitation activities in the region in view of it is not a producing gas area.
Field Tanjung has 321 oil and gas wells, but only 152 of which produce. Some 114 wells are in Tanjung wells structure.
Other oil and gas wells are outside the structure of the Tanjung, including East Tepian, South Warukin, Central Warukin, Tanta or Dahur.
"Efforts to find the source of gas in the Tanjung Field is being done by PT Pertamina Upstream Energy (PHE) by exploring or research stage on five wells in the sub-district of Tanta," said Muslim.
Exploration conducted by PT PHE itself to find the source of the methane gas as alternative energy, and this activity has lasted over a year.
