Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, will host the 2017 River Congress of Indonesian which will be held in August, September or October 2017.
"This is the 3rd river congress Indonesia and Banjarmasin considered suitable to host, as it is known as the city of a thousand rivers," said the Head of Banjarmasin Water Resources and Drainage Agency Ir Muryanta here on Thursday.
The city government is an organizer of the congress in collaboration with provincial governments and the River Center in accordance with the agreement on the presidium of the first and second congress.
"The first river congress held in West Java, and the second was in Malang. The agreement of both the congress was the third in Banjarmasin is more suitable," said Muryanta.
Banjarmasin which has 150 rivers those still active is considered to be more representative for the activity compared to the previous two cities.
"But when talking about the river community is still in Java were many, so we are able to exchange ideas and experiences on the management of river," he said.
Muryanta said thousands of participants came from various regions in Indonesia in the first and second congress and triggered a lot on how to manage, utilize and preserve the river in the modern era which is full of wastes.
"So the inputs for the city that have many rivers very much resulting from the Congress, including the constraints in managing the river that must be solved together in the present," he said.
The central government will take important points in this activity to legislate how to utilize and manage the river as a whole, because in law already mentioned water, land, and natural resources utilazation as much as possible for the prosperity of society.
