Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Head of the Tanah Laut Cooperative and Trade Office (Diskopdag) Syarian Nurdin said that 83 low price markets are scheduled to be held in 2024.
"In average four to five times in a month low price markets to be held in Tanah Laut District," said Syarian Nurdin after the opening of the discounted market at the front of Salang Halang Uban Village Office, Pelaihari Sub-district, Tanah Laut, Tuesday.
After the urban village and the sub-district of Pelaihari, he said, the low price markets will continue to villages, especially in January 2024 .
"Hopefully this will stabilize prices, at least we bring what people need closer at affordable prices," he said.
The goods and products sold vary, including shallot, garlic, sugar, cooking oil, chicken eggs, rice, and others.

The important part of this, he expounded, every time the Diskopdag hold a low price market always collaborates with micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM).
"We always hope that UMKM (MSMEs) can also introduce goods and products in our district to be sold at every low price market activity," he said.
Acting Regent of Tanah Laut H Syamsir Rahman said that the low price market today is the second held by Diskopdag in January 2024.
"The plan is low price markets will be held 83 times in 2024. It could be at a sudden moment we will hold it again," he said.
He pointed out that low price markets are held to curb inflation and to stablize prices in Tanah Laut District.
"But beyond that we want to see how people at lower level still enjoy cheap and affordable prices," he said.
One of residents of Gunung Melati Village, Rusmiatul, welcomed the low price market saying that it helped residents to get basic necessities with prices under market prices.
