Paringin, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Lampihong 1001-05 Subdistrict Military Command (Koramil) cleaned up waterways to prevent batingsor (floods, tornadoes, and landslides) in Tampang Village, Lampihong Sub-district, Balangan District, South Kalimantan.
“This action is (our) devotional work to anticipate batingsor in the local area,” said Territorial Staff Officer (Pasiter) of the HSU-Balangan 1001 District Military Command (Kodim) Second Lieutenant Inf. Mulyanto in Balangan, Wednesday.
In addition, he said, it is also to create clean, and tidy environment, that is protected from diseases and natural disasters.
Mulyanto said his sides had coordinated with Lampihong Police, Tampang Village Head, as well as the community of the village to clean up waterways from rubbish.

The main target of the action was irrigation channel which is approximately 800 meters long, so that the waterways can flow smoothly, no silting due to overgrowth of wild grass and bushes, and it does not result in flooding during rainy season.
Commander of 1001-05 Lampihong Military Command Assistant Second Lieutenant Wahyudi added that his party worked together with residents in cleaning up river from garbage and weeds.
Meanwhile, one of the community figure, Ahmad Husaini, really appreciated the activity held by the Koramil in efforts to prevent batingsor in the village.
“The activities carried out are our joint efforts to prevent batingsor, as well as our comon corcern for maintaining cleanliness and raising public awareness of cleanliness,” he said.
