Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) South Kalimantan and Indonesian Ombudsman agreed to synergize to improve the quality of public services in ULM.
The synergy was outlined in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by ULM Rector Prof. Ahmad Alim Bachri and Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman Mokhammad Najih in Banjarmasin, Saturday (Dec 9, 2023).
"Ombudsman as a strategic partner can oversee ULM to improve the quality of public services to all academics and general public," said the Rector.
The scope of their cooperation includes preventing maladministration, resolving public reports, research, community service, implementation of Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (Freedom in Learning and Campus), and exchange of data or information.

Alim emphasized that ULM as an education institution that provides higher education services would not be able to carry out its duties and functions properly and correctly without an improved services.
Thus, he expected that Ombudsman will oversee ULM performance through the function of supervising of services implementation.
"We are open to all input, including if there are complaints for future improvements," said Alim.
Especially, he said, ULM has the status of Public Service Agency (BLU) and in the stage of becoming the Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH), so it needs high commitment to public services.
"Don't let just because our service is not good it reduces public trust and has an impact on the assessment of Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology," he said.
