Batulicin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Education Office of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, had collected a donation amounted to IDR518 million more for victims of the ongoing war in Gaza Strip, Palestine.
"(The humanitarian) fund was collected from employees of Education Office from elementary and junior high schools in Tanah Bumbu," said Head of the Education Office Amiluddin in Batulicin, Tuesday.
Previously, he said, he received a circular from the local Baznas to help Muslim or war victims in Palestine.
The letter was then followed up by issuing a special circular for the Education Office employees spread throughout elementary (SD) and junior high schools (SMP).
"All teachers, principals, staff and officials very enthusiastic about donating, alhamdulillah IDR518,979,000 was collected," said Amilludin.

The fund was then handed over to the Tanah Bumbu National Alms Agency (Baznas) to be forwarded to the central Baznas and will be distributed directly to Palestine for those who really need it.
"Hopefully this assstance can help and ease the burden of residents or victims of war in Palestine," hoped Amilludin.
Meanwhile, the National Alms Agency in Jakarta on Wednesday (Nov 15, 2023) informed that it has so far received Rp50.5 billion (around US$3.3 million) in the first stage of humanitarian fund collection for Palestine, which will end on November 30, 2023.
The funds collected from the public reflect the enthusiasm of Indonesians in assisting the people of Palestine in the besieged Gaza Strip, he added.
If, by November 30, the agency manages to collect Rp70 billion or Rp100 billion, the enthusiasm of Indonesians for helping Palestinians could be described as "remarkable," he said.
