Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Tabalong, South Kalimantan, administration will embrace Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) to cooperate in building a botanical garden in the tourist area of Kasiau Village, Murung Pudak Sub-district.
Division Head of Physical Economic Evaluation and Spatial Planning of the Tabalong Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Susi Hendriawaty in Tanjung on Thursday said the construction of the botanical gardens is a local government efforts to develop the tourism sector.
"The tourist area in the village of Kasiau, Murung Pudak, planned to be developed into a botanical garden by involving LIPI," she said.
Currently, the local government has been making construction design of the botanical garden and the construction will be funded with the district and the state budget.
Previously Head of Bappeda Erwan Mardani revealed the results of study by LIPI which stated the Tanjung Puri tourist area in the village of Kasiau which covers about 24 hectares worth to be a botanical garden.
"The status of land in Tanjung Puri tourist areas will be strengthened with the Regent Decree to establish the area as a botanical garden complete with physical demarcation on the ground," explained Erwan.
As one of the tourist areas in Tabalong, Tanjung Puri, said Vice Regent Zony Alfianoor, has not been used optimally.
"The assets belonging to the local government if used and managed professionally will be able to boost local revenues not otherwise to only be burden for the budget with no contribution," said Zony.
