Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The clean water crisis faced by customers of state taps company PDAM Intan Banjar in Banjarbaru and Banjar finally resolved.
"We've got permission from South Kalimantan Governor to take advantage of mains pipes of SPAM Banjar Bakula which take water from Mandi Kapau River," said Regent Banjar Khalilurrahman in Martapura, Monday.
According to the regent, who was accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Banjarbaru Said Abdullah, the use of mains SPAM Banjar Bakula in the Water Treatment Plant (IPA) 2 Pinus started operating on Monday (5/9).
Mains SPAM Banjar Bakula with a production capacity of 250 liters water per second is able to overcome the water crisis faced by PDAM Intan Banjar customers for the drying of Riam Kanan irrigation.
"Even though there is maintenance of irrigation channels, so that the water level is reduced, but the distribution of clean water to the taps customers are not disturbed," said the regent, accompanied by Secretary of Banjar Nasrun Shah.
He said the use of mains SPAM Banjar Bakula still tentative, because the clean water supply project managed by provincial administration is not yet fully operational.
"We only use the main pipe for a while for maintenance of irrigation. If completed, we back to using the raw water flowing in the irrigation of Riam Kanan," he said.
He expects operational of SPAM Banjar Bakula to be fully performed, so that PDAM Intan Banjar no longer depends on the raw water comes from Riam Kanan canals irrigation.
Director of PDAM Intan Banjar Saiful Anwar said, the technical use of mains SPAM Banjar Bakula through the connecting pipe to IPA II Pinus which processing raw water into clean water.
"The water comes from the source of Mandi Kapau River and treated by IPA II Pinus which distributes water to customers both in Banjarbaru and Banjar district," he said.
