Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan Regional Secretary (Sekdaprov) Roy Rizali Anwar stated that the continuation of the construction of Pulau Laut Kotabaru Bridge to be carried out starting in 2024.
"To continue the construction of the bridge, we have held a meeting with the South Kalimantan DPRD (Legislative Council), the district DPRD and government of Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu," he said in Banjarmasin, Monday.
The meeting with the district government and DPR was to obtain a financing agreement.
"Alhamdulillah (Thank God) there was an agreement that the provincial government will fund IDR300 billion, the Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu IDR100 billion each," he said after plenary meeting with the South Kalimantan DPRD with the agenda of submitting Financial Note/2023 Revised Budget Bill (RAPBD-P 2023).
Regarding financing, the former Head of South Kalimantan PUPR Office said there are changes as a number of building materials increase.
"Moreover, the width of the bridge that was 30 meters becomes 40 meters. This certainly increase the budget," he said.
Although initially it was hope that there would be financial assistance from the central government for the project of the bridge that has long been a dream of people to connect the island with the mainland of Kalimantan.
The construction of the Pulau Laut Kotabaru Bridge with a length of 3.5 kilometers was actually started in the period of 2014/2015, but was then stagnated due to uncertainty central government to help with financing.
Meanwhile, both district government had disbursed a lot of budget to build part of the bridge. such as road framework, the approach to the pile installation.
