Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Agriculture and Food Security Office (DPKP) recorded a significant agricultural production of 800 thousand tons in 2024.

"In 2024, Alhamdulillah (Thank God) our production increased significantly compared to previous year, reaching 800,000 tons through optimization and printing rice fields. Insya Allah, production will continue to grow,” he said when confirmed here on Thursday.
He said that South Kalimantan strives to secure basic needs, because the province is the 11th national food security provider.
To boost the agricultural production, Syamsir said the DPKP and Governor expert staff hold regular exposures, including aligning perception, evaluating policy direction, and strengthening support for priority agricultural sector development agenda.
A number of main programs, such as printing new rice fields, land optimization, and stengthening strategic food commodities, particularly rice and corn, are key to maintaining food stability in South Kalimantan as the national food buffer.
Syamsir pointed out that the agricultural programs in South Kalimantan align with the President Prabowo Subianto's directives, especially efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency through cross-sector synergy to result in sustainable and equitable production increases down to farmer level.
“We remain at fast paced path to pursue our target in agricultural sector,” said Syamsir.
