Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Villagers of Sungai Bulan and Teluk Sirih happily welcome as the Kotabaru Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, building a bridge to connect their isolated village in Pulau Laut Selatan Sub-district.
"Thank you PUPR for building this bridge. Hopefully the construction will go smoothly until completion," said Head of Sungai Bulan village Sabir, Wednesday.
He said the bridge which is being built by PUPR will be the only access for the loal community, including traders, fishermen, students, and farmers, to make transactions to the capital of Tanjung Seloka Sub-district.
"On the behalf of the community, I would like to thank PUPR and the government of Kotabaru for building this bridge," said Sabir.
Thus the residents will not feel worry anymore about their isolation with the commencement of the bridge construction.
"The concern of residents, students, and others have been answered with the start of bridge work," said Sabir.
The Head of PUPR Office through the Head of Bina Marga Agus Tri Prasetiawan said the construction of the bridge has begun with the physical progress reaching 8.59 percent with the installment of concrete pillars.
This bridge is a vital access for educational, economic, and other needs, thus it really will help residents in their daily activities, especially school children to go and return from school safely and comfortably without worry.
"This bridge is built because the previous made of wood bridge was heavily damaged," he explained.
Head of Bina Marga said that the bridge with a length of 212 meter and two meters wide is planned to be concrete bridge with piles with a budget of IDR4.6 billion and estimated to be completed in December 2023.
