Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Syed Jafar opened Jetski Touring Regent Cup, cruising several islands, to push sea-based tourism.
"(Our) activities today become an effective promotion to maintain sea-based tourism," said Regent Sayed Jafar here, Saturday.
He said jetski touring is the first to be held in South Kalimantan. 35 racers from a number of regencies, including from East Kalimantan, took part here.
The touring started from Gedambaan Beach attraction to go to Rampa Village and Sebuku Island which is about 20 kilometers at the first etape.
To continue then to Manti Island for six kilometers at the second etape. Then the third etape continues to Gosong Bangau for 5.6 kilometers.
The fourth is 31 kilometers from Gosong Bangau to Rampa Berkah and the fifth 28 kilometers from Rampa Berkah to Teluk Masjid or the end of touring.
"I hope the today's jetski touring will open our eyes, insight and even our enthusiasm to move forward and develop with such stunning natural potential. This charm will ultimately affect the growth and development of community's economy," Sayed Jafar pointed out.
This marine tourism, he added, is also to introduce jetski water sport to the community so that in the future Kotabaru will achieve achievements at the national and even intenational level.
"I would like to thank you all parties for holding this activities and welcome to the 2023 Kotabaru Regent Cup Jetski Touring participants," said Sayed.
Acting Head of Tourism, Youth and Sport Office Hj Evi Yusnita said the jetski touring is also held to commemorate the 78th Anniversary of Independence.
This is also an effort of the district government through her office to develop sport tourism.
"Sport tourism in Kotabaru is expected to be able to boost tourism sector. Thus in the future similar events will be held and even more," said Evi Yusnita.
