Marabahan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Barito Kuala Regent Hasanuddin Murad distributed 3,800 Genjang Salak coconut seedlings to three communities in Batola to be planted in their respective yard.
"The number of seedlings distributed this year 3,800 stems, and will be added again in 2016 APBD-P (revised local budget) with as many as 12 thousand coconut seedlings," said Regent Hasanuddin Murad, in Marabahan Friday.
According to him, the seeds has advantages, among others, to bear fruit at the age of 24 months, harvesting age of 36 months. It has a yellowish green color fruit bunches, green fruit color, fruit shape is round, small fruit size.
He explained that the development areas of the seedlings located in arid lands with wet climate, with rainfall of 250- 3500 per year, while the origin of the seeds is the Pematang Panjang, Banjar.
There are three groups of people symbolically received the coconut seedlings, Bina Banua Group from Benteng Ulu Village, Hidup Bersama from Sungai Gampa Village, and Gang Asparagus, from Marabahan Village.
Regent hoped, the Salak Coconut seedlings can be planted in each yard of the house, so its presence can later be useful for oil demand in the area.
Separately, head of Forestry and Plantation Agency (Dishutbun) Furqan said, sharing the same seed was also conducted in 2015 with 6.000 the number of seedlings.
