Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Governor of South Kalimantan H Sahbirin Noor stated that his government is serious about pursuing environmentally sustainable development until 2024.
"We continue to encourage the downstream industry and to realize the management of natural resources in the region," the governor noted in his remarks read by Expert Staff for Community Affairs Husnul Hatimah when receiving a working visit by The Drafting Committee for Law (PPUU) of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) on natural resources management system in Banjarbaru, Thursday.
Regarding the downstream industry, the governor pointed out the B30 program applied by the government.
"Right now there are eight biofuel business in Kalimantan, two of which are in South Kalimantan Province," he said.
The governor also pointed out the development achievements in the province since 2020 with an Environmental Quality Index (IKLH) of 68.43.
"For the first time it exceeded the national IKLH figure of 66.55," he said.
The governor assured that he is committed to continuing to improve the achievement of the province's IKLH in a bid to achieve the environmentally sustainable development.
"Hopefuly PPUU DPD RI get an overview of natural resources management system in South Kalimantan," he said.
He also ensured that the provincial government ready to keep coordinating and collaborating with the PPUU DPD RI related to draft law on natural resources management system.
