Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Kotabaru District Government has inked an MoU with the Class II Batulicin Immigration Inpection Office (TPI) to facilitate residents to applying new passport or renewal documents.
"We have signed an MoU with Batulicin Immigration Office for passport service, so people here no more need to go to Batulicin for handling their passport," said Kotabaru Regent Syaid Jafar here on Tuesday.
The Kotabaru government has prepared a special office for this passport service on the first floor of the Regent's office in front of Siring Laut attraction.
According to the Regent, this limited immigration service is opened to provide easiness for people in Kotabaru considering of high need of passport, especially for umrah, hajj, and other overseas activities.

Meanwhile, Head of Immigration Division of the South Kalimantan Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Junita Sitorus said that the agreement with Kotabaru government is for the issuance of eazi passport.
"This is a pick-up the ball cooperation program, so it is the immigration that would come to the residents for their passport need (no longer) as usual that people come to immigration office. Here we maximize service," said Junita.
This is a policy of the director general of immiration that was issued in 2020, she said.
Junita expounded that South Kalimantan is the second highest issuer of passport for umrah and hajj, the number reaches 7,500 per month. Ypu can imigine that South Kalimantan has only two immigration office in Banjarmasin and Batulicin.
The Kotabaru office will operate twice a month, and if there is an increase in the issuance of passport, then the service time will be evaluated if it needs an additional.
