Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA) - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa reminded all state civil servants in the region to stay productive while fasting during Ramadan.
"Stay productive and keep up the (quality of) the public services while it is Ramadan (where) the office hours were reduced," Parawansa stated at the Governor's Office yard here on Monday.
The provincial government has reduced the office hours during Ramadan, she remarked.
The policy was stipulated in Circular Letter Number 800/2322/204.3/2022 about the set office hours during 1443 H Ramadan for state civil servants in the East Java Government's scope.

The circular, which Parawansa signed on April 3, 2022, pointed to two rulings of workdays for all state civil servants in all bureaus, offices, and agencies, as well as technical sections; which comprise five-day work week and six-day working week.
For bureaus, agencies, and offices that implement five days of work, the office hours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time from Monday to Thursday, with break time set for 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. local time.
As for Friday, the work hours are from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. local time, with break time set from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. local time.
Those who applied for six days of work, the office hours are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time from Monday to Thursday as well as Saturday. The break time is set from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. local time.

Parawansa believed that state civil servants would not be troubled to the point of a performance drop despite being on fast.
"On the contrary, (the performance) must also increase, as working is also a part of praying, which grants many rewards," she emphasized.
Parawansa also emphasized that people should take Ramadan as an opportunity to self-introspect.
"Ramadan should not degrade state civil servants' will to work for the public. I believe that state civil servants can (spend) time accordingly and know when to work and when to pray.
