Paringin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Balangan District Government has made various efforts to prevent and control the spread of dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF), especially in Paringin Kota Urban Village, Paringin Sub-district.
Based on the graph of DHF case per village in Balangan in January-February 2022, seven cases were recorded, namely Paringin Kota 3, Auh Village 1, Baruh Panyambaran 1, Bungin 1, Gunung Batu 1, and Langkap 1. Three of them were treated at Balangan Hospital.
The holder of DHF program at the Paringin Puskesmas (community health center) Santy Ermasari here on Saturday said that various efforts have been made to prevent and control the spread of dengue fever in the area.
"We have carried out various things, namely larva surveys, eradication of mosquito nests (PSN), suppressing the larva-free rate (ABJ), and fogging," she said.
According to her, DHF case in Paringin Sub-district was due to unsanitary environment. There were cans, empty buckets, and a resident's pool contaning larva.

Head of Infectious Disease Control of the Balangan Health Office Hasmi said fogging should be the last effort in the handling and prevention. Previously, dissemination and direction for environmental change had been carried out.
"We also carry out socialization and nspection of larvae. The result is that the larva-free rate is below 90 percent. We expect the number is above 95 percent," he pointed out.
In handling DHF, he said, the role of the community is very much needed. They are who actively take care of the environment and to change the pattern of cleanliness in the neighborhood they live in.
