Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Banjarbaru Mayor H M Aditya Mufti Ariffin invited all element of the society together to realize clean and green Banjarbaru through gotong-royong (tradition of mutual help) for clean-up and other environmental activities.
"We are grateful and proud for the participation of residents and communities in every gotong royong and clean-up action. Let's jointly make Banjarbaru green and clean," he said during clean-up action with residents and communities in Landasan Ulin Timur Urban Village, Saturday.
According to mayor, caring and maintaining environment is not only the duty of the government through the relevant agencies, but is the responsibility of all elements of society, including the community that devotes itself.
The government only acts as facilitator who encourages public awareness so that the environment is always protected from damage and other impact due to changes in the surroundings.
He hopes that people participation and togetherness will continue to increase and clean up action becomes a routine activity, not only once in a while, or only on certain commemoration day.
Gotong royong at the yard of the urban village office was also attended by a number of Banjarbaru DPRD members, Banjarbaru government officials, and various elements of the community.
