Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A total of 12 South Kalimantan National Paralympic Committee (NPC) athletes competed in judo at the XVI National Paralympic (Peparnas) in Papua.
This is the first time that the South Kalimantan NPC contingent competed in judo at the National Paralympic.
"Although this is the first time to a national event, we are optimistic that our athletes can achieve achievements at the Papua Peparnas," said the South Kalimantan NPC judo coach M Ricky Fajar when contacted in Papua.
There are 10 judoka deployed at Peparnas in Papua, all of them are visually impaired people.
The details for men are Nor Hasan to compete in men's 50 kg, Lutfi Gazali Rahman in men's 50-55 kg, Zainal Abidin in men's 55-60 kg.
Furthermore, Syahrudin in men's 60-66 kg, Surianto in men's 66-73 kg, M Pihani in men's 73-81 kg, Dhedy Stiawan in men's 82-90 kg, and Imam Al Faraok in men's 90 kg and above.
While some participated in the men's team competition, they are Santoso, Harinadi Ahmad, and Sigit Kurniawan.
The female athletes are Salma Ayu to compete in women's 57-63 kg, and Annisa Anindya in women's 63-73 kg.

"All athletes are ready to compete, we have tested the match field, as well as adjustments to the natural conditions here," he said.
He said he did not set a high target, only one gold medal, but was optimistic that it could be more than that if he saw the spirit of his foster athletes.
"Currently, we continue to encourage them with the motivation and spirit to win. Mentally, I think everything is good," he said.
It is scheduled, said Ricky Fajar, the match will be held on November 8, 2021.
The South Kalimantan NPC contingent sent 135 athletes to Peparnas to compete in 10 sports, with a target of 35 gold medals.
