Banjarmasin, Kalsel (AntaranewsKalsel) - Special Committee on Manpower of the South Kalimantan Legislative Council (DPRD) keep tracking illegal foreign worker by some sudden inspections to several companies in the province.
Chairman of the Special Committee Yazidie Fauzi said to the press on Friday, it was related to Manpower Minister Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri's visit some time ago when he encountered illegal workers from China in a coal company in Banjar District.
"We don't want anymore illegal workers here. They inflict loss to the region and become a problem to local worker," said Yazidie, who is also deputy head of Commssion IV on People's Welfare.
In checking foreign workers in this province, the Special Committee initiate field activities reviewing the employment in a number of timber companies in the "City of a Thousand Rivers" Banjarmasin and did not find anything.
Then since 6 August for a two-day the committee checking into several companies in Tanah Laut (Tala) and Tanah Bumbu (Tanbu).
In a surprise inspection to the Tala, the Special Committee went to PT Indofood in Bati Bati Sub-district (25 kilometers east of Banjarmasin). Then to the coal company PT Jorong Barutama Greston (JBG) in Kintap Sub-district (120 kilometers east of Banjarmasin). The investor of JBG is from "White Elephant Country" Thailand.
While in Tanbu, among other Special Committee visited PT Arutmin Indonesia engaged in coal mining.
In addition, they visiting PT KAM, a Korean company previously engaged in timber, and now turning to palm oil plantations.
Here the Special Committee found a South Korean citizen who wants to become an Indonesian citizen (WNI), because he want to marry local woman.
Chairman of the Special Committee has not given a detailed description, unless when arrived in Banjarmasin will hold a special press conference.
