Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - A British national, identified as COVID-19 case number 661, has been declared free of the infection in Batam city in the Indonesian province of Riau Islands.
The Briton, identified by his initials as DMH, has recovered from the novel coronavirus disease along with 69 Batam residents, the local task force for COVID-19 said in a written statement on Friday.
With more people recovering from COVID-19, the handling of coronavirus cases in Batam city has moved to a positive trajectory, chief of the health section of the Batam COVID-19 task force, Didi Kusmarjadi, said.
The 42-year-old British national is employed with a private company and is domiciled at a hotel in Batam. He is the 707th patient to be declared free from COVID-19.
The British national, who was asymptomatic, was treated at a special hospital in Galang Island, Riau Islands.
DMH, along with another British and a Belgian national, were declared positive for the virus on August 30, 2020 after undergoing a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test at their own initiative.
Batam city has reported 1,451 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Friday (September 25, 2020), with 775 patients recovering from the disease, 43 patients succumbing to the infection, and 632 patients undergoing treatment at several hospitals. (INE)
