Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Friday said the 2021 draft state budget (RAPBN) is aimed at accelerating national economic recovery in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“First, the draft policy for the 2021 State Budget is aimed at accelerating the recovery of the national economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” President Widodo said in his speech while presenting the 2021 Draft State Budget and Financial Notes at the DPR-RI Plenary Session for 2020-2021, at the MPR/DPR building in Jakarta on Friday.
Second, the draft policy for the 2021 State Budget will push structural reforms in order to increase productivity, innovation, and economic competitiveness, the head of state said.
Third, it will accelerate the economic transformation into the digital era; and fourth, it will focus on the utilization and anticipation of demographic changes, he said.
President Joko Widodo said there would be a lot of uncertainty next year.
Therefore, he said, the RAPBN must anticipate the uncertainty of world economic recovery, volatility in commodity prices, and developments in the socio-economic and geopolitical order.
“Also, the effectiveness of the national economic recovery, as well as the condition and stability of the financial sector (need to be considered),” he added.
The Leaders and Members of the House of Representatives, Leaders and Members of the Regional Representative Council, Leaders and Members of State Institutions, Ministers of the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet, Heads of Government Institutions, Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Chief of Police, and Attorney General attended the plenary session on Friday.
