Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of Kotabaru H Sayed Jafar appreciated the success of farmers in Pudi Seberang Village, Kelumpang Utara sub-district, in harvesting paddy fields with yields increasing to 7.3 ton per hectare from previously 2.4 ton per hectare.
"Alhamdulillah, our agriculture results are very satisfying. I am on behalf of the government very happy with the success," said H Sayed Jafar at the 25-hectare rice fields harvest ceremony in the village.
Agriculture is one of the Kotabaru government program, which is included in the agribusiness and tourisme vision and mission.
The grand harvest with farmers who are members of Maju Bersama Farmers Group was to support the food availibity in facing COVID-19 and to improve the quality of intensification of fields rice agribusiness in Kotabaru.
"We will continue to provide assistance for the continuity of agriculture in the area toward the welfare of our society," said the regen.
He hoped the farmers' group will continue to do their best to maintain the success, and to continue to hone knowledge gained from the agricultural counselor.
Head of Kotabaru Agriculture Office Hairuddin said, the intensification of 100 hectares of lowland rice in Kotabaru were carried out in four locations and sub-districts.
"Each of them manages an area of 25 hectare, namely Sungai Pasir Village in Pulau Laut Tengah Sub-district, Teluk Mesjid Village in Pulau Laut Timur Sub-district, Pudi Seberang in Kelumpang Utara, and Bakau Village in Pamukan Utara Sub-district," he said.
Regarding water, the office will cooperate with PT Arutmin to utilize ex-mining land for iirigation of rice fields for farmers in Kelumpang Utara
On that occasion, the regent handed over some assistance from the Social Agency, such as cash assistance to two people with disabilities and four elderly, also assistance for house renovation, rice thresher tools, and rice sacks.
The event was also attended by Chairwoman of TP PKK Kotabaru, heads of government offices, head of Kelumpang Utara Sub-district, Forkopimca, and community leaders.
